Pile
Pile is a small but busy suburb of Dubrovnik (see map), situated just in front of Pile Gate, well known Dubrovnik’s landmark at the western side of the Old town and home of a popular bus station.
The area is an important transport hub for the whole city and well known for frequent traffic jams, so it can be pretty busy around here especially in summer months.
There are plenty of restaurants, cafes, shops and business around here as well as two small residential quarters – one down to and around the small harbour and beach Sulic/Kolorina and another one around Brsalje further up North. Both residential quarters are, in my opinion, very good accommodation choice due to its very central location. Park Gradac and Lovrijenac tower are both also considered to be part of the area.
The main roundabout can be pretty busy as quite a lot of buses, coaches and other traffic passes here
Some lovely 19th-century architecture and views over Minceta tower.
Popular and expensive Hotel Hilton Imperial (top right) is here too.
