Bellevue Beach
Bellevue Beach, also known as Miramare is located in Miramare Bay (uvala Miramare) is just on 20 minutes walk from the Old Town on the very beginning of Lapad peninsula.
It is a secluded pebble beach that one can get to via steps that lead along the side of Hotel Rixos Libertas.
The beach is nestled in a deep, picturesque bay surrounded by steep cliffs and large cave (see above photo). There is a cafe bar/restaurant in the near vicinity handy for drinks and snacks.
Bellevue is popular with locals as swimming and cliff jumping beach spot while the whole area serves as local water polo enthusiasts paradise.
My beach tips: Due to its location, facing south-east, there is plenty of shade on the beach from the early afternoon so it is great spot to go for swimming if you like to avoid the strong summer heat. Alternatively, if you are after sun, the best time to enjoy this beach is in the early morning. During the windy days, the waters here can be pretty rough so make sure you stay safe.
Interesting fact about this beach is that locals are playing water-polo here from late 1920 s. Since that time the beach features open water pitch tucked in the west corner of the bay.

Getting to Bellevue Beach
- From the Old Town – walk out from the walled town through Pile Gate and continue walking towards the West for another 15 minutes passing Boninovo. Once there, turn left along Put Pera Cingrije Street. Once you pass Hotel Bellevue, turn left to Liechtensteinov put and right there, near the hotel you will see stairs leading down to the beach.
- From Lapad and Babin Kuk – take bus no 4 to Hotel Bellevue and follow instructions as above.
- From Gruž – take bus no 1 to Pile to bus stop ‘Od Republike’ turn right and from there walk Put Pera Cingrije Street to the beach (as above).
