Dubrovnik Culture

Dubrovnik is the town that has rich cultural, sport and artistic life. It has its own theatre and symphony orchestra, cinemas and various art galleries.
Out of season regular concerts by Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra are held in several concert venues in Dubrovnik’s Old Town centre. Theatre plays, performed by Dubrovnik Theatre, are played weekly in Theatre’s own venue.

Museum of Modern Art holds popular contemporary art shows, while smaller art galleries have their own continuous programme.
Day of St. Blaise Festival and Dubrovnik Carnival that are annually held in Dubrovnik since the Middle Ages, take place in the winter too. During the second week of April popular Libertas Film Festival is held.

Water Polo in Dubrovnik

Water polo is no 1 sport in Dubrovnik with more that a century old tradition. There is an annual ‘Waterpolo Wild League’ aka ‘Divlja Liga‘ that is Dubrovnik’s local water polo championship held in July and August around town’s beaches with final game held in the Old port (see photo from 1925).
