Exchanging money in Dubrovnik
There are quite a few money exchange offices in Dubrovnik where most of the major currencies are exchangeable for local currency – the Croatian Kuna (HKN). They include local banks, hotel receptions, post offices as well as private souvenirs or similar shops where people also offer currency exchange (see above photo).
The commission for the transactions varies, so you should check the details before going ahead. Expect to pay something around 3-4 % of the total value of the transaction.
If you have Euros, due to the fact that Croatia is part of the Eurozone, you should have no problems using that currency for any payments.
The local exchange offices are called “mjenjačnica“
Note: There are several exchange offices at Dubrovnik Airport that are open at the arrival times of the international flights. Still, to be on the safe side, if you can, try to bring some local currency with you to start with, it may save you the disappointment of not being able to have your favorite drink or ice cream as soon as you arrive in the town.
